Graceful Transitions provides downsizing and moving services designed to eliminate the physical effort and reduce overall stress associated with moving. Each client is assigned a move manager who will arrange, schedule, plan, coordinate and supervise everything associated with the move. Expert space planning is provided to assure all furnishings will fit comfortably and safely in the new residence. A compassionate, highly skilled team works with the client to minimize clutter, organize essentials and arrange the sale, auction or donation of unwanted possessions. They sit with clients and guide decisions about what stays and what goes. They do the lifting and carrying to sort through the basement, attic and garage. On moving day the Graceful Transitions team will unpack, put away, plug in, check bulbs, set-up the computer and other electronics, hang pictures and curtains, make the bed, assure that favorite possessions are in place and everything is working so that by bedtime it's beginning to feel like home.

We'll minimize clutter, organize essentials and help dispose of unwanted possessions. We sit with you, do the lifting and carrying and help you sort through the basement, attic and garage. Whether treasure or heirloom, priceless artifact, or just plain junk—we can guide you through a structured, simple decision-making process to eliminate clutter and simplify your life. We understand that some items may have emotional connections. We can provide many creative ideas to help you "let go".

Our downsizing and moving services will eliminate the physical effort and greatly reduce the overall levels of stress, anxiety and worry from your move or downsizing project. We take care of all the details. Our move managers listen to you and recognize your unique needs, then carefully tailor a personal Action Plan based on your desires, priorities and needs. We will coordinate, schedule and supervise each activity based on your plan. Whether you are downsizing for relocation to a new residence or planning to stay where you are and just want to eliminate clutter, you are always in complete control.

One of our move managers will be assigned for your initial consultation and thereafter all activity related to you and your action plan will be with the same person will know you, your specific plan and all of your special requirements. Your move manager will be in communication with you throughout the process to confirm all arrangements, alert you in advance of each step and provide guidance for each upcoming activity:

  • Development of an Action Plan providing a description and time line of critical activities
  • Inventory & Labeling of Belongings in preparation of move and distribution of items going elsewhere
  • Sitting and Sorting through your possessions — we sit with you, do the lifing and help you decide what to keep
  • Creation of a Floor Plan to determine where each piece of furniture will fit in your new home
  • Scheduling & Coordination of all activities, companies and individuals involved in relocation or home reorganization project
  • Appraisal of antiques, collectibles and other valuable possessions
  • Creative Solutions to letting go issues
  • Heirloom Shipping, ensuring treasured possessions are en route to loved ones in a timely manner
  • Dispensation of Unwanted Possessions not going to loved ones through sales to dealers, charitable donations and/or hauling to a waste and recycling facility
  • Moving supervision and coordination of the actual move
  • Unpacking & Set-Up in New Residence so that by bedtime furniture is arranged, pictures are on the walls, lights are plugged-in, favorite possessions are in place and it already feels like home
  • Temporary Storage arrangements including transfer of belongings to a secure storage facility

The initial visit by a Graceful Transitions move manager will last approximately forty-five minutes. During this time he or she will go over our services and explain the options available to you. The move manager will also take time to listen, making note of your concerns, preferences and specific requirements. Shortly thereafter—usually within forty-eight hours—you will be provided with a detailed cost estimate for your project.

We charge an hourly rate and will happily provide you with a no-cost estimate for your project.
